The Work
Discovery
Passage began through a series of stakeholder interviews to help align the project team around common goals and a shared vision of success. We then audited the existing experience, several hardware prototypes and a range of competitors to clearly ground ourselves in the connected coffee and kettle landscape. We then began work on the user journey, understanding each step that would be needed to enable a seamless and effortless kettle experience. Once complete, the user journey enabled us to establish an Information Architecture and clearly outline each section and feature of the app.

The mobile app that Passage was charged with designing would be an important confluence of a fun and quirky brand with the precise and minimal industrial design language of the Stagg kettle. Once a design direction was established, Passage worked closely with the Fellow product team to bring to life a long-term, fully featured vision of what the app could become over the next several years.

Passage was able to build on the success of the Fellow Stagg EKG kettle by adding a layer of connectivity that enables an even more convenient coffee making experience through temperature presets, advanced scheduling and automated over-the-air updates so that each Stagg EKG Pro is always equipped with the latest firmware.
